Controversial Albay bishop leads PNP Ethics Day celebration

LEGAZPI CITY—Diocese of Legazpi Bishop Most Reverend Joel Baylon, D.D. served as the guest of honor and speaker at the celebration of the 21st Philippine National Police (PNP) Ethics Day of the
Philippine National Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) today.

In his speech, the bishop called on the members of the police to tread the path of morality.

Bishop Baylon, it would be recalled, was embroiled in controversy after consumer groups accused him of mishandling Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco)'s affairs and its rehabilitation fund.

In September 2014, Baylon was among those who were summoned to the office of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Manila for the agency's probe.

Meantime, PRO 5 Regional Director PCSupt. Victor Deona led the celebration with this year’s theme "PNP, Leading the Right Path Towards Credible and Noble Service."  

The PNP Ethics day is celebrated yearly to remind each police personnel to uphold the PNP’s Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards which are their guideposts in the performance of their duties.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
