'Code blue' alert up in Bicol hospitals

Code Blue Alert has been declared by the Department of Health (DOH) in all DOH-retained hospitals in the Bicol region in preparation for Typhoon Ruby.

A Code Blue Alert means that 50 percent of all hospital personnel shall report for duty in the facility to render medical and other services.

Among those included in the list of hospitals are Bicol Medical Center, Naga City; Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital, Legazpi City; and Bicol Sanitarium, Cabusao, Camarines Sur.

This is part of the agency's comprehensive disaster preparedness measures to deal with and to lessen the anticipated impact of Typhoon Ruby on local communities.

Drugs, medicines, and other supplies worth P 243 million have also been prepositioned in the regions, the DOH said in an announcement this afternoon.

The DOH Regional Offices are also in constant coordination with provincial and municipal health offices in these regions for updates in weather monitoring and any untoward health event.
