PILI, CSur- Six persons were arrested by the joint personnel from the Forest Protection Office of the Protected Area of Mount Isarog National Park and the police station here, who were allegedly involved in illegal mining or treasure hunting in the area.
Police named the alleged treasure hunters as Cesar Ruz y Ayahay, 52 years old, married of Purok 2 barangay Red V, Lucena City, Angel Hemor, Jr., y Brigino, 45 years old, married of Ph 18, A1 Blk B, Sumapi St., Pilot Area, Commonwealth, Quezon City; Fidel Morandarte y Bondoy 64 years old, married of Zone, 4, Tinangis; Marcial Sornillo y Norte, 64 years old, married of San Antonio St., Concepcion, Naga City; Agapito Cortez y Deterala, 43 married of San Cristobal, Calamba City, Laguna; and Noe Bogoc y Villegas, 37 years old of Zone 6 Balatas, Naga City.
Reports say that the digging operation was conducted inside the protected area of Mount Isarog.
The members of the joint operatives confiscated from the suspects the following items: ropes and cables, battery pack, hard hats, air gun, and other digging paraphernalia.
When they were investigated about their activity, they failed to present the necessary permits,that would authorize them to mine or engage in treasure hunting activity.
The suspects were brought to the Police Station for further investigation and filing of the necessary charges. (BICOL STANDARD.COM)
