Ligao National High School Chorale shines at NAMCYA 2014

Ligao National High School Voice Chorale bagged the Best Interpretation Contest Piece prize in the Mixed Voice Choir Category in this year's National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA).

Under the baton of its conductor Celger Venzon, it bested 10 other choral groups, namely:


  • Bacolod City National High School Youth Choir, Cond. Easter Candiasan - Region VI
  • BPHSCA Himig Kuliglig, Cond. Gladys Gutierrez - Region IV-A
  • Canossa Glee Club, Cond. Leila Liezel Villostas - Region IV-A
  • La Filipina National High School Voxunito Chorale, Cond. Eduardo Geronimo Jr. - Region XI
  • Manila Science High School Chorale, Cond. Alfie Abella - NCR
  • Muntinlupa Science High School Chorale, Cond. Ivy Rose Casiguran-Puri - NCR
  • Musica Paulinos, Cond. Jeffrey Buensuceso - NCR
  • STEFTI Youth Choir, Cond. Jose Emmanuel Aquino - Region VIII
  • Tinig Ensemble Choir, Cond. Jhovanie Sebastian - Region XI
  • University of the Philippines Rural High School Glee Club, Cond. Marife Rebutar - Region IV-A

    The competition was held last November 21 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

    NAMCYA, which is celebrating its 41st anniversary this year, aims to discover, develop, and enhance the skills of young Filipino artists through intensive Workshops and Training Programs. Its primordial advocacy is to promote Philippine music and encourage appreciation for its beauty and art.
