In a press conference at the provincial capitol, Tallado reiterated his earlier statement that he will continue to do his duties as governor despite the controversy.

He added that their personal concerns had nothing to do with stealing from government coffers.

Tallado, however, did not directly admit to the charges of infidelity.

"Kung ako po ay nagkamali, tao lang po ako, tao lang po ako. May kahinaan din po ako. Ito po ay sana, unawain nating lahat," he said.

Tallado's wife, Josie, left their home in Camarines Norte last October 17. She appeared on national media a few days later, claiming that she no longer felt safe in their home after receiving threats from her husband.

Mrs. Tallado said her husband suspected that she and her friend, Darleen Mitchell Francisco, uploaded photos of the governor and his alleged mistress on social media.

Several lewd photos of Gov. Tallado and the alleged mistress recently spread online.

The governor stated that he believes his political opponents are behind the spread of the leaked images. He also called on the public to stop sharing the photos.

Over the weekend, Daet Bishop Gilbert Garcera appealed to churchgoers to pray more for families to help them live up to their promise of fidelity, in light of recent events.—BICOL STANDARD
