Businessman robbed, stabbed in Virac

VIRAC, Catanduanes--A 30-year-old businessman was allegedly robbed and stabbed in Barangay Sta. Elena, this town at around 9:00 last Monday.

The victim, who was identified as Lorenzo Tatel y Yu, is an owner of a computer shop in the area.

According to the police, Tatel had been arguing with the suspect, Eric Dondon Benavidez, 32, right before the incident.

Benavidez, who is an electrician and a resident of the same place, demanded money from the victim.

He stabbed the victim's body multiple times and tied him up using shoelaces.

The police said that the suspect immediately fled from the scene.

Meanwhile, the victim was able to seek help from his neighbors.

Police officers of the Virac Municipal Police Station immediately launched a hot pursuit operation to capture the suspect.

Benavidez was arrested at a lodging house at Barangay Gogon at around 4:05 A.M. the next morning.

Found in his possession was P20,000 which was believed to be taken from the victim.

They filed a complaint against the suspect following his arrest.
