#LuisPH: Signal no. 1 raised in Catanduanes, trips cancelled

NAGA CITY—Public storm warning signal number 1 has been hoisted over Catanduanes as of 11:00 this morning, PAGASA announced.

The state weather bureau reported that tropical storm Luis has intensified while moving towards the Cagayan-Isabela area.

The storm’s center is located 456 km east of Virac.

The combined effect of tropical storm Luis and the southwest monsoon will bring light and moderate rains to the region this weekend, PAGASA added.

The OCD-RDRRMC has thus suspended all sea travel to and from Catanduanes to ensure the safety of passengers.

Over social media, DOTC said that the following flights have been cancelled as of this afternoon: 2P-2925 MNL-Legazpi, 2P-2926 Legazpi-MNL, 5J-323 MNL-Legazpi,5J-324 Legazpi-MNL, 5J-521 MNL-Naga,and 5J-522 Naga-MNL.

Some 200 passengers are also stranded at the Tabaco, Albay port, according to the Philippine Ports Authority.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
