CASTILLA, Sorsogon—Nine Philippine Army and one Philippine National Police (PNP) detachment were fired upon by suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) from 8 to 9 P.M. last night.
Brigada Spokesperson 1Lt Clint P. Antipala of the Philippine Army reported that no casualty was recorded on the government's side. This was due to the fact that the suspected rebels were far from the detachments.
The report added that the suspected rebels, after firing some five to eight shots, immediately fled.
"These incidents show the weakening capability of the NPAs in the province. Their indiscriminate firings will just make the civilians angry and upset especially in the neighboring barangays of our detachments," Col. Idio of the Philippine Army said.
He added that said development is favorable on the part of the Army.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
