The festival, which draws to the heart of Bicol over a million pilgrims annually, is also known to attract an increased number of malefactors in the city, the police said.
The subjects of the group’s entrapment operation last Friday were Eurotel in Barangay Dinaga, Rodson Hotel in J. Hernandez Avenue, and Travelers Suite in Barangay San Felipe.
Arrested were Gretchielle Anne Monte y Guzilan, 35 years old, of P. Diaz Extension, Barangay Sta. Cruz; Melinda Delmoro y Salvador, 42, of Barangay Triangulo; and Ramon Manalo y Albo, 45, of Barangay Bagumbayan Sur.
Fifteen women, suspected to be Guest Relations Officers (GROs) were also rescued during the operation.
Camarines Sur CIDG Provincial Head Chief Inspector Errol T. Garchitorena Jr. said that poverty, according to the suspected GROs, remains to be the main reason why they enter into prostitution rings.
The victims will undergo counselling after the rescue, he added.
Meanwhile, the CIDG is now preparing to file charges for the violation of R.A. 9028, as amended by R.A.10364, otherwise known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012, against the sispects.
City Prosecutor Salvador “Buddy” Reyes III noted that the penalty may range from 20 to 40 years of imprisonment.
Apart from PCI Garchitorena, the other CIDG personnel involved in the operation were PSI Elmer M. Galan, SPO4 Elmer V. Caceres, SPO2 Roger C. Seladis, SPO1 Clifford A. Andalis, SPO1 Raquel M. Portada and PO3 Reynald P. Cam.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM BICOL NEWS
