Francis Papica: 'I have decided not to enter politics'

NAGA CITY--Francis Padua Papica has categorically denied any plans to enter politics.

Francis Padua Papica
In a letter sent to the media this afternoon, he said "After extensively weighing the competing advantages and disadvantages of a political career, I have decided not to enter politics."

He narrated, "It has always been my lifelong desire and dream to be in the service to the Filipino people, especially the Bicolanos."

"It is precisely this deep desire to make a difference in the lives of people that I started the Francis Padua Papica Foundation seventeen years ago without any pretense or ambition to someday enter politics."

In the past few years, however, he revealed that he began to entertain the idea of entering politics.

"I could use the prestige, credibility and power of the office to do much greater good," he said.

However, today, he announced that his true calling is not in politics, but in philanthropy and charity.

In 1997, Padua Papica started the Francis Padua Papica Foundation, a public benefit corporation "to encourage and acknowledge the outstanding individual achievements of young Filipino men and women."--BICOLSTANDARD.COM
