“The RAILTF is intensifying its effort to curb illegal logging operations in Partido Area and bring into the arms of the law the perpetrators of such unscrupulous acts. Currently we are reaping success in the anti-illegal logging operations because various law enforcement agencies of the government are backing us up,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales said the joint task force is also conducting sea-borne operations with the help of Naval Forces Southern Luzon (NAVFORSOL) floating assets for the past weeks and has seized illegally-cut timber in several areas in Presentacion, Tinambac in Partido Area and Sipocot.
The joint task force is a composite team of personnel from the Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation and the DENR.

Gonzales added that the DENR has filed complaints against the individuals behind the illegal logging operations in violation of the amended Revised Forestry Code or Presidential Decree No. 705 and Chainsaw Act or Republic Act No. 9175.
“This should serve as a fair warning against all illegal logging operators in the region that the RAILTF is on the hunt against them, and they will be prosecuted accordingly, so as to be held liable,” he added.
Under Executive Order No. 23, the RAILTF is in charge of the enforcement of the moratorium on cutting and harvesting of timber on natural and residual forests and the anti-illegal logging campaign under the supervision of the DENR. -- (MAL/SAA/DENR5/PIA5)
