NAGA CITY—Camarines II Electric Cooperative (Casureco II) director Jose Grageda confirmed today that they had received a communication from the National Electrification Administration (NEA) informing the Board of Directors regarding the selection of Bernadette Gavino-Gumba to the vacant position of the General Manager of the Electric Cooperative.

NEA, according to Grageda, needs a resolution from the board of directors that will confirm the appointment of Gumba as full-fledged General Manager of Casureco II.

Grageda said the remaing members of the board will inform the NEA that they should be given a little more time to scrutinize the credentials of Gumba, prior to their decision as to whether they would favorably endorse her appointment.

Gumba is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Ateneo de Naga University, and the wife of Renne Gumba, an outspoken member of the cooperative who had been a consistent critic of the cooperative.
Grageda said over DWLV that at present, the board wants to see and study the documents attached to the application of Gumba. They also want to interview the applicant for the position of GM on her plans and goals in running the biggest electric cooperative in the Bicol Region.

In the meantime, Grageda clarified that Rolando Pante will still serve of the Officer-in-Charge, while waiting for future developments.

In another development, Grageda said he is no longer interested in running for re-election as a member of the board to give others a chance to be a part of the policy-making body.

He clarified that his term will end on October 31, exactly 3 years after he was sworn into office as a member of the board of directors.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM BICOL NEWS
