TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT: TYPHOON “JOSE” (HALONG)

TYPHOON “JOSE” HAS WEAKENED WHILE MOVING IN THE GENERAL DIRECTION OF SOUTHERN JAPAN.
Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon “JOSE” was located based on all available data at 805 km East of Calayan Island (19.5°N, 129.7 °E).
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
Movement: Forecast to move North Northeast at 15 kph.
Forecast Positions: Typhoon“JOSE” is expected to be at 860 km
East Northeast of Basco, Batanes by tomorrow morning and at 1,090 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes by Thursday morning or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 – 25 mm per hour (heavy - intense) within the 650 km diameter of the Typhoon.
Typhoon “JOSE” will not affect any part of the country. However, the Southwest Monsoon will continue to bring rains over
Ilocos Region and Central Luzon while Metro Manila, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA will have occasional rains.
Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon.
The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
