Ret SPO3 Dennis Tan gunned down in Makati City
NAGA CITY—A former member of the Naga City Police Office was
shot dead by an unidentified person, while on his way to his residence in
Makati City last night.
Retired SPO3 Dennis Tan, who used to reside at Barangay
Tabuco, this city, was shot several times at close range at around 7 PM, a
neighbor told BICOL STANDARD.
Tan used to be the warrant officer of Naga City Police. He
availed of his early retirement to focus on his security service business at No.
1888, Orense St, Corner Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo,
Makati City.
Chief Inspector Gaylord Tamayo said that while the victim
was walking toward his house, a man armed with .45 pistol approached him and
fired several shots, hitting him in his chest and the lower portion of his
chin.
Immediately after the incident, Tan was rushed to the St
Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspected assailant is about 5 feet tall, and was
wearing a baseball cap at the time of the incident, the investigators said.
A member of Tan’s household in Makati told the police that
he heard Tan engage in a heated discussion with someone on the phone for
several times.
The investigators are looking into the possibility that Tan’s
death may be connected to his former job as a police officer, or the security
and detective agency that he owned.
In the early years of his service in the police, Tan also
figured in a shooting incident in Naga City, the investigators noted.
Prior to his retirement, he was assigned at the Department
of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the office of former Secretary Jesse
M. Robredo.
He retired from service more than three years ago.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
