(Updated) Firefighters respond to fire at foot of Mayon Volcano

ALBAY—Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) went to the foot of Mayon Volcano to respond to a forest fire which reportedly started earlier tonight.

The fire is somewhere in the vicinity of Mayon Volcano Natural Park, reports reaching BICOL STANDARD said.

Just yesterday, a bush fire broke out in the town of Rapu-Rapu, affecting some 2,000 to 5,000 families from eight barangays.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM

As of 9:11 PM, Albay Gov. Joey Salceda announced on his Facebook account that the Mayon fire has been put out by the BFP.

The Mayon fire, Salceda noted, was much smaller than the Rapu-Rapu fire yesterday.-BICOLSTANDARD.COM
