Escudero claimed that she would lobby for it on the upcoming budget hearing of the Department of Agriculture (DA) next week.

She revealed that even before, she had been coordinating with the DA-BAR (Bureau of Agricultural Research) in the inclusion of additional funding for science-based research.

Escudero echoed the call of former agriculture secretary and Director General of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) Dr. William Dar, who urged the government to invest more on promoting agri-business through the provision of higher budget on science-based research.—With report from PNA
