New forest fire rages in Bacacay, Albay

ALBAY  A forest fire has broken out anew in this province, this time in Barangays Manaet and Tanagan in Bacacay town.

Albay Governor Joey Salceda announced over Facebook that members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are now assisting residents to evacuate to a safer location.

Salceda added that the two helicopters, which were used to put out the fire in the town of Rapu-Rapu earlier this week, will conduct water drops starting 6 AM tomorrow.

Reports reaching BICOL STANDARD say that the fire started at around 4 PM.

The cause of the fire has not been established as of press time.

It will be recalled that fire also broke out near the foot of Mayon Volcano last Monday.

A forest fire was also reported tonight in the town of Tiwi, according to Salceda. – BICOLSTANDARD.COM
