Peñafrancia Shrine re-opens

NAGA CITY—After three years of renovation, the Peñafrancia Shrine has been blessed and re-consecrated to Our Lady of Peñafrancia in a mass last night.

The mass was attended by several members of the local clergy, including Caceres Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona, as well as donors and parishioners.

During the mass, the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia and the Divino Rostro were transferred from the parish hall to the shrine.

The mass coincided with parish priest Fr. Andrew Recepcion’s announcement that he will no longer be the parish priest of the Old Shrine. Recepcion revealed that he had been assigned to serve in a parish in Tagaytay City.

Recepcion, however, thanked the Archdiocese of Caceres for the opportunity to lead the renovation of the Shrine, which has served as Ina’s home for many years.
