Holdupper killed in Naga City by police operatives

NAGA CITY—Members of the Naga City Philippine National Police (PNP) are still checking the identity of a suspect who was involved in a holdupping incident in Fil-Sunbeam Hardware in Zone 5, San Felipe, this city.

Initially, the investigators identified the suspect as Mark Cuban y Suarez of San Antonio St., Concepcion Pequena, Naga City, based on a cedula that was found in his possession. However, a citation ticket found in his pocket bears the name Louie Escamillas of Camarines Norte.

After a brief shootout with the Naga City PNP, said suspect was killed a few meters from the site where the holdupping incident took place.

Meanwhile, the owner of the establishment that was held up was identified as Cynthia Delloro y Rosero, 43, married, of Barangay Sabang, Naga City.

According to the police report, the suspect, along with another still-unidentified person, entered the hardware and pretended to be buyers.

 Later, the suspects declared holdup while poking a gun at the store attendant.

Apart from Cuban, the unidentified suspect fled to the direction of downtown Naga.

In the ensuing investigation, the authorities recovered from Cuban’s possession the following items: P570 in various denominations, one 9 mm pistol, one cartridge, one magazine containing five live ammunition, and four empty shells.

The cadaver of the suspect was brought to the residence of the brother-in-law of the victim at San Antonio St., Concepcion Pequena, this city.

In an interview with PNP City Director Police Senior Superintendent Filmore Escobal, he said that this is part of the relentless campaign of police authorities against criminality in Naga.

Over radio station BBS-DWLV, SPO1 Toby Bongon, who is the Information Officer of PNP Naga said that they are checking on previous activities of the said suspect to determine whether his participation in the said crime is an isolated case, or if he is a member of a criminal syndicate.—by Oscar Esmenda/BICOLSTANDARD.COM
