Malinao cops continue charitable acts

ALBAY—In an effort to bring the police closer to the heart of the constituents, elements of Malinao Municipal Police Station under the supervision of PSI Arthur R. Gomez, OIC, launched a program to reach out to more indigent members of the community.

Yesterday, the group gave school supplies and served snacks to several indigent children from Barangay Diaro, Malinao.

Gomez said that he hopes that the effort will make the children perceive police officers as friends, protectors and role models. In turn, he hopes that this positive perception will inspire the children to become law-abiding citizens.

It is not the first time that Malinao Municipal Police Station was recognized for its outreach activities. Previously, Gomez led a team of police officers in giving two children a rechargeable lamp, after they were spotted studying by the light of streetlamps. The act captured the attention of the public, including PNP Regional Director Victor Deona, who gave the gradeschoolers and their father a pedicab with which they could earn a living.

Gomez, in an earlier interview by BICOL STANDARD, revealed that they recognize these initiatives as part of their commitment to serve the community.

He also promised to look for other deserving recipients of their assistance.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
