Notorious Burac-Abad gang leader falls

CALABANGA, CAMARINES SUR –The leader of the notorious criminal syndicate known as the Burac-Abad gang which had been operating here had been collared yesterday by the joint elements of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Calabanga, Camarines Sur
Eleuterio Abad y Abarrientos, the alleged mastermind and gang leader, was positively identified by one of his victims, Albert Bañares of San Miguel, Magarao.

It will be recalled that this gang had been actively operating in the towns of Camarines Sur, where majority of their victims are engaged in lending and as sales agents.

In the investigation, Bañares told the police that Abad, with the use of force and intimidation, took his cellphone at gunpoint.

In a separate incident, Francis Nikko Lim, a salesman of Tri-Star Corporation, also reported to the police that the same suspect, together with two others forcibly took away from him an undetermined amount of money which he collected from his clients.

When this incident happened, he was with his helper, Ramil Revalo. They had been collecting the payments for their delivered cigarette products at Barangay Bigaas in this town.

During the said incident, the suspects used a black and white Suzuki Smash motorcycled without plate number.

One of the suspects was wearing a denim jacket, denim pants and a faded violet cap. He was also armed with a hand gun.

The victim narrated that immediately after taking the money from him, the suspect fired his gun twice. The bullet hit his right leg.

Said incidents were all reported to the police authorities.

Meanwhile, a hot pursuit operation ensued, with the assistance of the members of the Ocampo police force, at about 11:30 in the evening, the same day.

Around 12:35 in the early morning of May 20, the team apprehended Eleuterio Abad y Abarrientos alias “Bornok”, at Barangay Pinit, Ocampo.

In the said operation, Bañares took part in positively identifying the suspect.

Also confiscated during the hot pursuit operation was the Suzuki Smash motorcycle which was pinpointed by Banares, as the same vehicle that was used when he was held up by the suspect.

The vehicle is now in the custody of the police authorities.

As this developed, the PNP Provincial Office here announced that other victims of the same criminal elements, especially those in the third, fourth, and fifth districts, are invited to come to their office to identify the suspect..—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
