Bicol Medical Center gets ISO certification

NAGA CITYThe Bicol Medical Center (BMC), a hospital under the Department of Health, has just received the prestigious 9001:2008 certification from the International Standardization Organization (ISO). This was achieved under the leadership of the Medical Center Chief Dr. Efren SJ Nerva and the the QMS-ISO Committee of BMC.

Said certification specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
The certification means that the BMC is now deemed efficient by international standards. This gives it a competitive advantage as it is proof that the hospital’s operations are all streamlined. It may be recalled that last December, the Department of Health was recognized as the first government agency under the executive branch to have a department-wide Quality Management System under a single ISO 9001:2008 certification. Meanwhile, among the other ISO-certified hospitals in the Philippines are Region 1 Medical Center (Dagupan City, Pangasinan), Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (San Fernando City, La Union), Quirino Memorial Medical Center (Quezon City), Philippine Children’s Medical Center (Quezon City), Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (Batac City, IlocosNorte), and Rizal Medical Center (Pasig City).BICOLSTANDARD.COM
