If this happens, Board Member Ric Riva said that he would be running for congressman in the third congressional district.
Over Facebook, Riva trumpeted: “IF EVER CONG. GONZALEZ DECIDES TO RUN FOR GOVERNOR OF ALBAY IN THE NEXT ELECTION, I WILL RUN FOR CONGRESSMAN IN THE 3RD DISTRICT OF ALBAY.
This has been thought of and prayed for repeatedly and the finality of this intention comes with it the promise to serve the people larger in scope and deeper in sincerity through rural development and to continue projects which have been spearheaded by us during this term.”
It will be recalled that both Congressman Gonzalez and incumbent Governor Joey Salceda confirmed that they will be running for Congressman on the same social media website.
As of press time, it could not, however, be ascertained whether Salceda is running in the same district where Gonzalez is the incumbent representative.
Although Salceda is a resident of the town of Polangui, he has a house in Legazpi City. The governor could adopt the latter as his new residence, owing to the recent political developments in the province.
The only indication that Salceda would run in the second district is if he transfers his registration as voter from the third to the second district.
Meanwhile, as this developed, second district congressman Al Francis Bichara has reportedly shifted his political gear. Bichara is allegedly eyeing the gubernatorial seat, a position which he previously held.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
