NAPOCOR acquires gensets for Catanduanes power plant

The National Power Corporation (Napocor) has earlier this week a 47-million peso contract to Frontier Power Technologies represented by its General Manager/Owner Miguel S. Kaquilala for the supply, delivery and installation of three 1000 kW generating sets for the Marinawa Diesel Power Plant (DPP) in Bato, Catanduanes.

The new generating sets will replace the plant’s two 1,224 kW units that have been in use for the last 17 years and are expected to make sure that the 43, 677 households of the province will have sufficient power supply especially during summer where the province’s hydroelectric plants have reduced generation.

“It is part of Napocor’s mission to not only electrify the remotest islands in the country but also to improve our facilities to better serve our customers,” said President Sta. Rita.

The Marinawa DPP is one of the 298 NPC- Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) areas in the country. Its generated power is distributed by the First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative (FICELCO). (Napocor)
