Georgina Bordado is new CBSUA president

PILI, CAMARINES SUR—Georgina J. Bordado is the new president of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA).

A graduate of the University, Bordado also holds degrees from the University of Northeastern Philippines, Doctor of Business Management, 2009;  University of the Philippines at Los Baños, Master of Science in Agricultural Economics, 1984; and University of the Philippines at Los Baños, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) Major in Agricultural Economics, 1977.

Among her previous designations and achievements are: Dean, College of Economics and Management, CBSUA; Associate Professor V to Profession I, CBSUA; Merissitimus in Revalida Awardee; Consortium Director, Bicol Consortium for Agriculture and Resources Research and Development (BCARRD); Research Director, Research Div. CSAAC; IRRI Research Scholar; and Visiting Professor, University of Northern Iowa.

She also conducted the following researches: Sheep Production-Marketing-Consumption System in the Bicol Region; Rice-Based Farming Systems; Marketing of Rice by Small Producer Groups in Selected Regions of the Philippines; Marketing of Coconut by Small Producer Groups, among others.

Bordado was chosen over Joel Batanes and Wenifredo Onate, former classmates and fellow PhD holders.

The Board of Regents, which selected Bordado, includes Chairperson and CHED Commissioner Ruperto S. Sangalang, Vice Chairman and CBSUA OIC President Ramon C. Arimado, Senate Committee on Education, Arts and Culture Chair Pia Cayetano, represented by Dr. Vivian Eustaquio, House of Representatives Committee on Education, Arts and Culture Chair Roman T. Romulo, represented by Leni G. Robredo, NEDA 5 OIC Director Luis G. Banua, DOST 5 Director Tomas B. Briñas, DA-RFU 5 Director Abelardo R. Bragas, CBSUA alumni Federation President Roberto L. Bayonito, University Student Council Federation President Christian R. Repuya, and CBSUA Faculty Union President Celerino B. Llesol.

Bordado will take her oath as new president of CBSUA on April 4, during the graduation ceremonies at CBSUA's main campus.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
