Daet hails 10 Outstanding Women

DAET, CAMARINES NORTE—The municipal government here has cited the town's Ten Outstanding Women for their exemplary performance in their particular field of profession that significantly contributed to the municipality’s development.

Awardees included Ma. Antonia B. F. Boma, general manager of the Camarines Norte Water District (CNWD); Lorna N. Jalimao, principal II of Moreno Integrated School; Melicia A. Ibasco, principal III of Daet Elementary School; Myrna Deligero, general manager/proprietor of MDD Production, CNTV at Bicol CATV System; Marissa Bernardo, Diocese of Daet Social Ministry, Barangay Pamorangon; Nova C.Monilla, day care teacher, Barangay Gahonon; Amelita P. Raviz, barangay nutrition scholar of Brgy. V; Lolita Mocha Edusma, water sports enthusiast of Brgy. Bagasbas; Eden Cordova, barangay health worker of Awitan; and Judilyn Grace Almacen, barangay kagawad of Dogongan.

The basis of the evaluation for the Ten Outstanding Women is their accomplishments for the year 2013 which is in line with last year’s theme “Kababaihan: Gabay sa Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan”.

Corcini Sarion said that there are livelihood assistance given to women in the town particularly trainings under the the Technology and Livelihood Development Center (TLDC) of the local government unit of Daet which are open to would be entrepreneurs.

She also said that she is willing to extend assistance to those women who want to enter into micro small medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Councilor Rosa Mia King,on the other hand, said that they also allocate budget for women activities especially on training and conducting celebration of women’s month celebration.

She also reminded women of their rights and protection under Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).

The said law seeks to address the widespread acts of violence directed against women and children which acts clearly violate the fundamental human rights and several international human rights instruments of which the Philppines is a signatory.

This year’s theme of the celebration “Juana, ang Tatag Mo ay Tatag Natin sa Pagbangon at Pagsulong. (MAL/RBM-PIA5/CamNorte).
