Camarines Norte celebrates Bantayog Festival

Twin celebrations in Camarines Norte this month are set to kick off tomorrow, April 14.

Bantayog Festival 2014
First, the province celebrates its 94th foundation anniversary. Historical records indicate that the province was created by the American Civil Government on April 15, 1920.

Meanwhile, the Bantayog Festival also pays tribute to the first Jose Rizal monument erected in the entire nation. Said monument, from which the festival takes its name, is located in the province. This is the 10th year that Camarines Norte is holding the Bantayog Festival.

The contributions of homegrown heroes such as Wenceslao Vinzons, Gen. Vicente Lukban, Jose Ma. Panganiban, Francisco “Turko” Boayes and Tomas Zaldua will also be remembered.

Various activities have been prepared by the provincial government of Camarines Norte to mark this year's celebration.

Among these the Ultra Marathon Challenge, fireworks display, surfing and kayak surfing clinic, football clinic, the Search for Environmental Princess, Binibining Camarines Norte pageant, a shooting competition, a variety show, and a fun run.

The Bantayog Festival will end on April 22.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
