Philippine Chemistry Congress to be held in Naga City

NAGA CITY—Chemists from all over the nation as well as other parts of the world will gather at the Villa Caceres hotel here from April 9 to 11, 2014 for the Philippine Chemistry Congress.

Now on its 29th year, this conference is the biggest gathering of chemists and researchers from the academe, industry and government sectors, where new knowledge and issues in chemistry and allied fields are brought to the forefront.

The congress hopes to forge and strengthen cooperation and collaboration among chemists and researchers in the Philippines, Asia and the Pacific.

The 29th PCC is organized by the Philippine Federation of Chemistry Societies, Inc. (PFCS), an umbrella organization with five chemistry organizations namely: Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP), Kapisanang Kimika ng Pilipinas (KKP), Organic Chemistry Teachers Association (OCTA), Philippine Association of Chemistry Teachers (PACT) and Philippine Association of Chemistry Students (PACS). This is jointly organized with the Ateneo de Naga University.

This year, the keynote speakers will be Sandrine Lacombe, Ph.D., Director, Erasmus Mundus SERP of the Institute of Molecular Sciences, University of Paris-Sud and Dominique Rubia-Tutay
Director IV of the Bureau of Local Employment.

The scope of the conference includes analytical chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemistry education, environmental chemistry, natural products and materials science.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
