Bicolano boxer Farenas KOs Mexican Velasquez

Gubat, Sorsogon-born boxer Michael Farenas won in last night's fight against Tijuana, Mexico native Hector Velasquez at the Fil Oil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Farenas won on a technical knockout after Velasquez suffered from a cut shortly after Round 2 began. He was awarded the WBC ABCO super feathweight title.

Velasquez, a former opponent of Pacquiao, now has a record of 56-21-3, with 38 knockouts.

Meanwhile, Farenas emerged with a record of 38-4-4, with 30 knockouts.

Farenas is expected to challenge WBO junior lightweight titleholder Mikey Garcia soon.-BICOLSTANDARD.COM
