Director Arnel B. Garcia said Monday that another 78 shelter units were already awarded and occupied by the families in Barangay Taytay and another 50 units will soon be turned over in Barangay San Isidro of the same town.

Each core shelter unit is worth P70,000, Garcia said.

The local government of Goa headed by Mayor Antero Lim purchased the lot to serve as relocation site and also the counterpart for the core shelter assistance project implementation.

Garcia said the Core Shelter Assistance Project (CSAP) is a project of the DSWD which provides typhoon-resistant shelter units to displaced families caused by typhoon or other related disasters and who are unable to restore damaged houses.

The project is also intended for other families that are vulnerable to flooding and similar disasters that need to be relocated.

Garcia also explained that CSAP implementation includes mobilization of people’s organization -- particularly the neighborhood association for shelter assistance, the local government units through the Municipal Social Welfare Officers, the needed resource materials and other facilities that would contribute to a more effective project implementation.

“Take care of your house. It is a dream of every Filipino family to own one. A house which can be called a home. A home which is full of love and care for every family member,” Garcia tells recipients. (PNA) LAP/FGS/CBD/UTB
