Casureco II ready to refund member-consumers

NAGA CITYCamarines Sur II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Casureco II) informed member-consumers today that the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has voided the prices that the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) imposed for the period of October 26 to December 25, 2013.

Despite this development,  CASURECO II said that it will still collect P8.42/kwh, pursuant to the order of the Regional Trial Court, which is now pending appeal with the Court of Appeals.

The announcement reads: “In compliance with the injunction and Order [injunctive order] of Branch 33 of the Regional Trial Court of Pili, Casureco II has been implementing a fixed rate of P8.42 for all types of member-consumers. As per the cooperative’s simulations, member-consumers who have been paying using the mandated rates can no longer expect a refund in their power.”

“…the cooperative subsidized the cost of power for member-consumers who were settling at the court mandated rate of Php 8.42. For member-consumsers registering a consumption of 100 kwh and settled said consumption using the court mandated rates, they can expect additional power payables of Php 212.78 upon the resolution of the cooperative’s appeal on jurisdiction of the said injunction and Order [injunctive order].”

“Overall, the ERC Decision coupled with the WESM’s refund of the billing adjustments vindicates Casureco II’s position that the cause of the previous increases were mainly due to generation costs. While the cooperative awaits the final directive of the ERC on how to implement the said refund, it would like to assure its member-consumers that it is at the ready to refund the amount due to the paying public,” the announcement concludes.BICOLSTANDARD.COM
