DOLE Bicol records 83 labor cases from January to February

LEGAZPI CITY—Eighty-three alleged violations of the Labor Standards Law in the Labor Code were recorded by the Med-Arbitration Unit of the Regional Office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) from January to February this year.

Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra announced that 13 of the 83 cases have already been resolved. A total of P216,256.25 has been awarded to the fourteen workers who filed the complaints.

Majority of the cases, Director Lacambra said, came from the assessment results reported by Labor Laws Compliance Officers (LLCOS).

Atty. Karina Perida-Travyilla, DOLE Bicol Mediator-Arbiter said that actually, only 82 cases were filed this year. However, one case was carried over from 2013, making the total number of cases 83.

Said cases commonly involved underpayment of wages, non-payment of benefits, and other violations of core labor standards.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
