House Bill 3784 was filed by Antipolo City Representative Robbie Puno in January.

If Blatche's naturalization would be approved, he would be qualified to play for Gilas Pilipinas, the team which will represent the nation in the upcoming FIBA World Cup in Spain this August. FIBA, according to the official rules, allows participating teams to have one naturalized player.

Batocabe, during the hearing today, said that the passage of the bill needs to be rushed, especially since Congress is set to go on recess on March 15. His move was supported by Northern Samar Representative Emil Ong.

Six-foot-eleven Andre Blatch was born in New York, USA. He was drafted in 2005. Before playing for the Brooklyn Nets, he was part of the Washington Wizards.
