Fire consumes Sorsogon National High School main building

The main building of Sorsogon National High School at barangay Almendras-Cogon, Sorsogon City was razed by fire last night.

According to the information received by BICOL STANDARD, the security guard of the school who was stationed at the annex was already about to leave when he noticed that the fire had already gutted the main building.

Housed in said edifice are the school’s offices of records, accounting, cashier, dental clinic, library, and the principal’s office, among others.

Meanwhile, a teacher who resides near the school said that he saw the flames coming from the right wing of the building.

Nothing was saved from the decades-old building, which was made of wood and light materials.

As of the time of this writing, no estimates as to the cause of the fire or the damages have been released by the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The main building of the Sorsogon National High School had stood in its location since World War II. Since the school was established, it had produced many prominent personalities. (With report from Eddie Ayo Atutubo)
