Naga joins Iglesia ni Cristo Worldwide Walk for Yolanda victims

Naga City will take part in Iglesia ni Cristo’s “Worldwide Walk” for typhoons of super typhoon Yolanda today.

In an advisory released yesterday by the Public Safety Office, it was announced that P. Burgos St. and Penafrancia Ave. will be closed because of the activity, which will begin at 7 AM at Plaza Quezon.

Meanwhile, Magsaysay Ave. and Panganiban Drive will temporarily be one-lane roads.

The walkathon will be conducted in 84 other sites in the Philippines, as well sa 55 locations abroad.

Because of the volume of people that will participate, the global walk is expected to break at least two Guinness world records. Among these are Largest Charity Walk (Single Venue) and Largest Charity Walk in 24 Hours (Multiple Venues).

Each participant will be required to pay P250 to join the activity. There will also be no age requirement or limit imposed.

The money gathered from the event will be used to fund the Iglesia ni Cristo’s continuing relief efforts in the typhoon-ravaged areas.
