Night market to open in Naga

Night market in Xiamen, China
NAGA CITY—A night market slated to open here next week promises to provide Nagueños with a unique and convenient shopping experience.

The night market, which will be open between 7 PM to 12 midnight along Igualdad Street, will allow residents who work during the day to do their shopping in the evening.

Said street will be closed to motorists during the night market hours to allow vendors and buyers to conduct their business comfortably.

The market will be open on three days of the week: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Apart from shoppers, the night market is expected to benefit vendors in the city, especially those who do not have stalls and thus have little opportunity to sell their wares during the daytime.

A popular attraction in many parts of Asia, night markets are believed to have begun in China around 836 AD.

At present, the most popular night markets are found in Taiwan, where as many as a hundred night markets have been established.
