Antonina Lines and Elavil Tours were both slapped with preventive suspension orders by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) after two buses of said companies figured in a deadly collision yesterday.

The regulatory body also issued show cause orders directing the bus companies to explain why they should not be meted with penalties.

The northbound Antonina and southbound Elavil rammed into each other in Maharlika Highway in barangay Mambulo Nuevo, Libmanan, Camarines Sur.

The crash killed five people, and injured 46 others.

Alarmed over the recent number of bus accidents, the LTFRB held a bus summit just last Friday to confer with some 200 bus operators in the country about the agency’s measures to avert said incidents.
