Publishers org confers Most Outstanding Disaster Response Award to Team Albay OCD V


The Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) recognized Team Albay - Office of Civil Defense V with the Most Outstanding Disaster Response Award for its "prompt, sustained, comprehensive and well-organized response" to the victims of typhoon Yolanda.

According to PAPI, "Team Albay hit ground zeron on time when lives could still be saved, and prompty undertook search, rescue and retrieval operations. It was the first response to the disaster from outside and was in fact the most organized response amidst extreme chaos."

Among Team Albay-OCD V's exemplary initiatives are the use of a filtration machine that produced and delivered water to households; a search and retrieval unit which managed 622 cadavers; and health emergency managemen unit which provided medical assistance.
