DOLE Bicol and Petron Depot ink Kapatiran Wise Program MOA

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol
LEGAZPI CITY--The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office V and Petron Depot signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the Kapatiran Wise Program in this city yesterday.

Under this program, big firms which are in direct business with small firms are encouraged to help said small firms to follow and implement labor laws.

These small firms may be involved with the big firms as service contractors or providers of third-party manpower.

Among the labor laws that were specified by the government agency are the General Labor Standards; Work Improvement in Small Enterprises; Department Order No. 18-02 and Occupational Safety and Health Standards.

According to DOLE, non-compliance of the labor laws would mean the cancellation of contracts.

"This MOA signing today is the first big brother-small brother project this year. We are happy that more and more big firms are now accepting the idea of this program" said DOLE-Bicol Asst. Reg. Dir. Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman.

"This program not only helps us (DOLE) to implement labor laws but it gives ease in monitoring. Imagine if all big companies would police its own service contractors. The result would be less labor violations." he added.
