Bus crash injures 30


POLANGUI, ALBAY — Thirty people were injured in an accident involving two buses and a motorcycle that collided in Maharlika Highway, Barangay Kinali, in this town last Friday.

The victims were identified as Ralph Benedict Ragasa of Barangay Magurang, Polangui, who had been driving the motorcycle; Leopoldo Maronilla Jr. or Libon, Albay, who had been driving a Raymond Transport bus; and 28 passengers of the same bus which was bound for Manila.

They were brought to the  Josefina Belmonte Duran Memorial District Hospital in Ligao City for treatment.

Meanwhile, Dennis Baleno, the driver of the other bus was reportedly unharmed.

Police said the accident occurred at around 7:45 in the evening when the driver of a motorcycle signalled to Baleno, that he was about to make a left turn. Baleno tried to brake, but it crashed into the motorcycle. The Raymond Transport bus, which was right behind the other bus, also crashed against the other bus .

Eyewitnesses claimed that the Raymond Transport bus was speeding around the time of the accident.
